American Standard, the Final Solution

Before proceeding with any repairs suggested on this site, please read my disclaimer. There you will find links to my other attempts to resolve various issues with the Campion, including leaking tank-to-bowl bolts and the leaking flush valve. The flush valve repair described there is temporary at best, where this repair promises a permanent solution.

The image above is of the flush valve from the Titan, by Eljer. I haven't found an aftermarket source for just the flush valve, so I can't say what the cost for the valve by itself would be. I paid $119.00 at Lowes for the tank, which is less than a whole new toilet would have cost, and much less than I've lost over the last year in water leaking past the flush valve seal of the Champion. This valve will fit into the opening on the Champion tank. (The bolt holes won't line up, so replacing the tank is not an option.)

The opening in the Champion tank is 1/4" larger than the opening on the Titan. The black seal (shown in the first image) that seals the valve to the tank will actually fit inside the Champion opening. This might provide an adequate seal, but I recommend replacing that seal with the one from the Champion valve. Take care to center the Eljer valve as best you can.

The only drawback to the Eljer valve is the shortened fill tube. Even so, I still get an outstanding flush with a perfectly sealing flush valve every time. My only other recommendation at this point would be to buy stock in Eljer (a subsidiary of Jacuzzi). The excellant performance of this design makes the Titan a winning product. With a MaP rating of 900 grams and a no nonsense flush valve, this toilet is well worth the $289 price.
