Among all the posts on this blog, a handful of them seem to stand out.
This post, which culminates a long standing feud I had with my toilet, has also helped several other people come to terms with their defective flusher.
There's also the amazing
twenty dollar bill conspiracy! Is it a hoax? Is it for real? I merely present the facts... You, the reader, must decide for yourself.
One of my own personal favorite posts is on The
Amazing Hypnotic Writing Wizard! Unfortunately, the PayPal functionality seems to be under performing.
While all of these posts have been fun, I do occasionally delve into deeper, more serious waters. A couple of the weightier subjects I've discussed are
Abortion and
radical islamism. While I don't regularly respond to most comments on this site, I did want to respond to some issues Sara recently brought up regarding my rantings against radical islamism. Portions of her comment, with my response, follow the jump...

Hey Glenn,
I really don't know how i came across this website, but I was quite speechless, i never thought anyone would actually go as far as you have to diss islam and and make us sound like blood thirsty animals.
Thanks for visiting, Sara. While you may find what I write to be disconcerting, there are other places on the web that go much further. Granted, some are based primarily on fear or hatred, but there are are many that have legitimate concerns with what some people are doing in the name of Islam.
You don't sound like a blood thirsty animal. I would not, then classify you as a radical islamist. Many radical islamists are bloodthirsy animals, though, and should be exposed as such.
First of all, Allah is just another name for God, the one and only God we all believe in, and just because we dont think Jesus is the Lord, it doesn't mean we don't believe in him.
The one and only God I believe in 1) established the Jewish race to fulfill His redemptive purposes, and 2) gave His Son as an atonement for the sins of man. If Allah would be glorified in the destruction of jews, or that He would deny the redemption of man through the sacrifice of His Son is evidence that we're not in agreement on what is the character or nature of God.
And just like we believe in Jesus and all other prophits, you should respect other prophits too.
Jesus taught that He and God were one, and that there was no other way to God but through Himself. If Jesus was merely a prophet, then He was a false prophet and not deserving of honor. If Mohammed were a true prophet, he would direct people to follow the teachings of Christ. Because I hold that his teachings are not inspired by God, but are rather opposed to the gospel of Christ, I cannot hold him to be anything other than a false prophet.
I do not say that with the intention of causing you offense, though I'm sure it may. It is the equivalent of you, as a muslim, saying that Jesus is not the son of God and did not die on the cross and rise from the grave.
Second of all, you make it sound like the terrorist attacks that took place under the name of Islam in america these past few years are the first terror attacks to ever happen, as if the unibomber never existed.
Unibomber- Despicable murderer, now imprisoned and poses no threat to humanity.
Timothy McVeigh- Despicable murderer, executed, poses no threat to humanity.
Paul Hill- Despicable Murderer, executed, no threat to humanity.
Al Quaeda- Network of murderous islamists, pose continuing threat to humanity.
Abu Sayyaf- Group of murderous islamists, poses continuing threat to humanity.
Taliban- Group of murderous islamists, pose continuing threat to humanity.
If you can see a pattern forming here, then perhaps you might understand why I devote more attention to radical islamists than to a locked up whacko like the unibomber.
Third of all, you really believe america is a peaceful nation? With all the wars it waged when Bush was incharge and the fact that the american army thinks its ok to cross an arab county's border, attack and kill 8 un-armed civilians including a father and his three children?
You've got it wrong if you think Bush started the war. Islamists have been attacking America for decades. USS Cole, African embassies, 1993 world trade center. Bush didn't start this war. He stepped up to the plate and took the fight to the islamists on their own turf. That any innocent civilians die is at the feet of the islamists, not the US military.
The difference between us and them? we try not to kill civilians. They intentionally target civillians.
By the way, Christians in Pakistan regularly have their churches bombed. In Mosul, Iraq, Christians are being killed for no other reason than their faith. The recent Mumbai attacks were performed by radical islamists. Contrast that to the civil liberties and protections afforded muslims throughout america. How often do beheadings happen in Oklahoma or California? I think that it's safe to say, that compared to the muslim world, America is a peaceful nation
I don't know what your problem is, i mean i understand you are angry becuase you don't know much since the american media isn't as efficiant as you believe, [...]
Believe me, I am not ignorant because of the American media. What I know, I have learned in spite of the media. As for my anger, what anger I have is directed at those that would intentionally kill innocent people. I don't care if they do it in the name of Allah, Jesus, or Hari Krishna... Murder is a violation of God's order and anger against it is righteous and just.
[...] and just because there were those who used Islam as their reason for terrorist acts it doesn't mean it is what they say it is. The terrorists you hate are also hated by us.
I am so glad to hear that you also hate the terrorists. I wish the whole muslim world would rise up and denounce terrorism. Unfortunately, there are too many who would rather side with them, or at least tolerate them.
All we want from you is to investigate a little deeper into Islam, like not just go for what you've heard, but maybe actually try to read a good translated version of the Qoran so you could understand better and know that Islam is a religion of peace(even though it doesn't look like it on TV or anywhere else).
I have done some reading, and am not opposed to doing more on the subject. Would you do the same, as well? Perhaps pick up a good translation of the Holy Bible? If you'd like to try an english version, I'd recommend the English Standard translation (ESV), and suggest the Gospel of John as a starting place.
Your opinion is appreciated, but the "peanut butter on him" comment or what ever it was, is so unnecessary and offensive.
I appreciate your respectful and thoughtful comments. I apologize to you for the offense you have taken on that point, but I do not apologize for offending the radical islamists. If Muhammed is indeed a prophet (you and I still disagree on that) then he can take care of himself when it comes to name calling. If he is not a prophet, then he is deserving of derision.
