The Case for the Real Jesus
Lee Strobel - 2007 - 309 pages
* Scholars respond to modern assault on character and nature of Christ. Unapologetic apologetics validate canonical gospels, resurrection, messiahship of Jesus.
The Edge of Evolution
Dr. Michael J. Behe - 2008 - 320 pages
* Darwinian evolution by selection of favorable mutations not possible. DNA sequences incredibly complex. Malaria and Sickle Cell best case studies.
Genetic Entropy
Dr. J.C. Sanford - 2008 - 232 pages
* Genetic mutations break things. Random mutation plus natural selection does not lead to human evolution. We are devolving, not evolving.
By Design
Dr. Jonathan Sarfati - 2008 - 260 pages
* Amazing compilation of design elements throughout creation. Some highly technical language, but well worth working through. Gecko feet are cool.
Some books I've read recently, reviewed in twenty words or less;
Real American Heroes
Lone Survivor
Marcus Luttrel - 2007 - 392 pages
* Western media kills. Harrowing tale of Murphy's Ridge. Out of options, seals wage war. Lone survivor sees Providence during battle.
Alamo in the Ardennes
John C. McManus - 2007 - 296 pages
* Ordered to hold position "at all costs." Many paid it all. Their courage set stage for victory. Outstanding, mortifying read.
Action and (YAWN) Adventure
Extreme Measures
Vince Flynn- 2008 - 416 pages
* Page turning action, interspersed with pointless vulgarity. Good guys mostly win, some bad guys to return in sequel.
Black Ops
W.E.B. Griffin - 2008 - 464 pages
* What a waste of paper. Boring! Author overindulges in pointless, redundant dialogue. Did I say boring? So much paper wasted.
As I've stated before, I will accept no apologies, and really don't care for excuses. The fact of the matter is, I barely have time to read everything on the interweb anyhow. If anyone should be apologizing and making excuses, it should be the readers, not the authors.
Here are some potential excuses and apologies readers might offer up.
"Sorry, I was watching all the episodes of "Total Drama Island" I TiVo'ed, and forgot to read your blog."
"Ever since the bank foreclosed on my house, I've had a tough time keeping up with my RSS feeds."
"I've come down with a nasty case of the plague... the doctor has put me on bed rest and says I should cut back on my blogospheric intake."
It's been a couple of years since I last looked around the TTLB ecosystem. I was once a worm, then grew an exoskeleton. While I wasn't paying attention, I seem to have sprouted some feathers. Here's a brief glimpse at some of my winged neighbors...
No Jello to Nail Here
It's hard to pin this guy down exactly, because the blog-dude at a dog-eared town seems to have a beef against everybody. Big Government RINOs, John McCain, Ralph Nadar, B-H-O, and even Ron Paul fall into his crosshairs. No one is safe! That's the kind of blog I like.
Across the Pond
Paulie espouse timeless wisdom within the title of his blog... Besides not trusting hippies, he stays up on UK politics and guitar, including some cool percussion.
Tim Challies brought this hilarious clip to my attention, with a very thoughtful reflection on our tendency to couch our sin in layers of justifications and obfuscations. The key to effectively dealing with sin? JUST STOP IT!
A Fungus Among Us... and the Cowardly Response of Bureaucratic "Risk Managers"
The City of Bryan's brave firemen are chased out of their station by some slime growing behind the shower stall... meanwhile, environmental consultants and project planners and remediation contractors are laughing all the way to the bank. Give me a bottle of bleach and a box of Tide, and I'd clear that problem up for half the cost, with change left over!
Lower Than Termites, But Deadlier Jawa Report has clips (GRAPHIC) of the Fitna movie up... at least until Google Video pulls them. This 15 minute film is as important to view as the entire three days of coverage following the original 9-11 attacks. This film puts into context the nature of the enemy we face. The Islamists want to conquer and destroy. Nothing less than the fate of western civilization is hanging in the balance.
Twenty Word Book Reviews We Were One: Shoulder to Shoulder With the Marines Who Took Fallujah
Patrick K. O'Donnel - 2006 - 244 pages
* Book needs editor. Brave marines fight, die, remember. Fallujah hell. Harsh language, harsh combat. Heroes all, living and dead. Semper Fi.
Satanic Verses
Salman Rushdie - 1988 - 561 pages
* Made my eyeballs bleed. Vulgar, bizarre, droning, psychotic. Mohamed opportunistic, manipulative, fraudulent. Mo made it up, illiterate muslims target author.
Ivanhoe
Walter Scott - 1874 - 300 pages
* Fun read. Medieval knights, chivalrous and conniving. Poor Isaac can't catch a break. Wamba the fool most noble of all.
Son of a Wanted Man
Louis L'amour - 1984 - 194 pages
* Easy read. Bad guys die. Good guy gets the girl. It's a L'amour book, how much more can I say?
As you know, when folded properly, a twenty dollar billdisplays images which are eerily similar to certain elements of the 9-11 attacks. Some folks hold this up as evidence of prior knowledge of the attacks by certain conspiratorial forces, while others dismiss it as mere coincidence. As for me, I've not given it much thought... until I discovered an even more sinister plot hidden within the design of the new $20 bill.
Observe carefully (click on image to reveal larger);
Just another innocent twenty dollar bill, right? That's what they WANT you to think.
Too many coincidences to not be real!
Behold, the hideous beast! The all-seeing eye of Cyclops! Run, flee for your lives!
To reveal the devilish design, carefully fold the bill at an angle, as shown by the red line. The fold must be made between the bridge of Jackson's nose and his left eye. Next, fold the bill back, while carefully pinching the bill at the bridge of the nose (shown in yellow), so as to keep the left eye within the fold, and thus out of view. If done successfully, you will see that the evil free-masons that run the federal reserve intend for the world to be conquered by a race of man eating cyclopeses!
Doubt my conclusions? Consider these points;
Note the shock of hair at the crease... Raging flames of fire shoot forth from the head of the beast... All will be consumed!
The predatory fowl has his beak turned toward the monster, as though prepared to feast upon its very flesh, demonstrating its mastery over the foul fiend.
Though disguised as an olive branch, note the duck foot being shoved into the hideous creature's ear. The Freemason masters (represented by the eagle) intend to use weapons of mass destruction (symbolized by the duck-foot) to exercise control over the brute!
Note the sheild being carried aloft by the (masons) eagle... conveniently sized to make a perfect eyepatch. So long as the one-eyed monster carries out the mason-masters' will, they will shield it and protect it from harm.
Now this is REALLY creepy... the word "series" has now been transformed to "eries", revealing the plot to eradicate all competitive people groups, particularly those that engage in the commerce and trade of beaver furs.
Now look closely at what used to be the word twenty. It now spells TWINT... as in TWIN TOWERS! What more evidence do you need?
Interesting historical background regarding the marriage (yes, singular) of Henry the VIII.
After listening to this interview, I am convinced that Fred Thomson should choose John Bolton for his VP.
Interesting Videos-
Men are very complicated creatures emotionally, which explains why this kind of instruction is so necessary.
A brave patriot faces down (and mocks) the "truthers" at Ground Zero. Kinda long, but well worth the viewing. Ground Zeroes, Pt.1 (52 min.) (Link from Papa Mike)
Democratic Campaign Slogans for 2008:
"Democrats... For Defeat!"
"Victory through Surrender!"
"Only The Republicans Would Politicize the Global War on Terror, Because it Does Not Exist and Rove/Cheney/Rumsfeld/McChimpey are the Real Terrorists."
Well, so much for that lame post. Yes, your suspicions are right... I only sent this post up to give the impression that this is a lively and engaging blog site.
If you try this at home, wash your hands after the dissection. Wear latex gloves if you have cuts in your hands....
Shameless Blog Promotion Ideas
Some folks will stop at nothing to generate blog traffic. I know of one fellow who even claims to pay people to leave comments on his blog! (If you haven't got your dollar yet, be patient...)
Some folks have done book giveaways. Kevin tops that, however, by giving away a library of books. The current value of the library is over $300.
Me, I think I'll up the ante and start giving away library books. How many can I give as prizes before they take away my library card?
Speaking of books giveaways, Active Christian Media will give you books in exchange for reviews.
I expect this photo should get a rise out of a few folks. Please, if you're going to post comments about what an ignorant infidel I am, and try to convince me that islam is such a peaceful, loving way of life, please check your grammar, spelling, and caps locks. Slobbering on the keyboard while you spew your pablum doesn't reflect well upon Big Mo' (Peanut Butter Upon Him).
- - - - - - - - - ***UPDATE***
This should have been posted months ago. Better late than never! On the upside, at least I've got some of the lost links from my hosed link list thingy stored here. Maybe someday I'll get around to fixing that back up like it should be!
- - - - - - - - -
Not everybody gets a chance to check out all the great links in my link list thingy, so I thought I'd save you the trouble and give you an overview of what you'll find over there...
Celebrate Recovery is a safe place where men and women can share their struggles, strengths, hurts, and hopes with others in a Christ-centered recovery process, overcoming addictive behavior through community, scripture, and worship. This is a new ministry of Central Baptist Church.
So what if I haven't posted in a month and a half? Sue me.
Or not.
But whether or not litigation is your preferred method of noodle-whipping, at least give me your opinion of a band called Switchfoot. Tell me, dear reader, is the music of this band worth downloading onto my hard drive? which tracks are essential? which album most definitive of their work?
Please, I really want to know...
Miscellaneous links of no general importance...
Drats and Fizzadoodles! Tim Challies is a sneaky one, to be sure. He has compiled all of his recommended book reviews into a single site, thereby robbing me of a veritable treasure trove of content to be shamelessly pillaged, absconded and regurgitated on my own blog. Now, instead of me rehashing his reviews for you, you can just go see his reviews for yourself!
Just saw Facing the Giants. Good movie. Moving. Evangelical. Good flick. That's about the most comprehensive review you'll get out of me, go see it for yourself and tell me if I'm wrong. Note the celebration of life as contrasted to the fear and anxiety usually associated with pregnancy in this culture of death.
Peter Pan was cool. It was a lot of hard work, but quite enjoyable. I actually enjoyed having something else to focus on other than my Unmentionable Project of Doom and Despair that has been plaguing me all summer.
Speaking of the Unmentionable Project of Doom and Despair, we wrapped that up this week and all is sweet now. Well, less unsweet than it was before. Now enters The Spawn of the Unmentionable Project of Doom and Despair.
If you must ask, the Unmentionable Project of Doom and Despair involved lawyers. And consultants. Quake in fear at the thought of these forces conspiring against you, and know then why the Project remains Unmentionable.

To the fellow that calls himself "the truth": Mohammed is a false messenger of a false god. PBUH (Pig-snot Be Upon Him). Say what you will about Jesus, but I don't think you'll see any christians beheading your chilren or blowing up buses in protest. Yet, my making such a statement means that angry muslims will consider me and my family a legitimate target for violent retribution. How does that reconcile with the idea that islam is about peace?
Peace. Bah. Islam is about conquest and submission.

About Me
By way of background, I'm a homeschool dad in College Station, TX. Southern Baptist, with tendencies for somewhat reformed views on various subjects. I'm registered independent, but I vote Republican. I'm an employer, a Sunday School teacher, and a heterosexual white male. I am living proof that God uses the foolish things...
