* Ordered to hold position "at all costs." Many paid it all. Their courage set stage for victory. Outstanding, mortifying read.

* Page turning action, interspersed with pointless vulgarity. Good guys mostly win, some bad guys to return in sequel.

Black Ops
W.E.B. Griffin - 2008 - 464 pages
* What a waste of paper. Boring! Author overindulges in pointless, redundant dialogue. Did I say boring? So much paper wasted.

Excuses and apologies

Mark is making excuses, while Michele apologizes profusely.

As I've stated before, I will accept no apologies, and really don't care for excuses. The fact of the matter is, I barely have time to read everything on the interweb anyhow. If anyone should be apologizing and making excuses, it should be the readers, not the authors.

Here are some potential excuses and apologies readers might offer up.

"Sorry, I was watching all the episodes of "Total Drama Island" I TiVo'ed, and forgot to read your blog."

"Ever since the bank foreclosed on my house, I've had a tough time keeping up with my RSS feeds."

"I've come down with a nasty case of the plague... the doctor has put me on bed rest and says I should cut back on my blogospheric intake."

"The dog ate my cable modem."

"Obama has brought change to the interweb... so I've been avoiding it."

"Oh, you have a blog?"

Feel free to appropriate any or all of these excuses. They work for me!

Among all the posts on this blog, a handful of them seem to stand out. This post, which culminates a long standing feud I had with my toilet, has also helped several other people come to terms with their defective flusher.

There's also the amazing twenty dollar bill conspiracy! Is it a hoax? Is it for real? I merely present the facts... You, the reader, must decide for yourself.

One of my own personal favorite posts is on The Amazing Hypnotic Writing Wizard! Unfortunately, the PayPal functionality seems to be under performing.

While all of these posts have been fun, I do occasionally delve into deeper, more serious waters. A couple of the weightier subjects I've discussed are Abortion and radical islamism. While I don't regularly respond to most comments on this site, I did want to respond to some issues Sara recently brought up regarding my rantings against radical islamism. What marriage is not...

Man and a dog.
Girl and two trees.
College roommates.
42 year old man with nine year old boy.
Two guys.
Two girls.

What marriage is:
According to Scripture, one man, one woman, united.
According to Webster, one man, one woman, united.

Words mean things, and the word "Marriage" has always meant, and still means, "The union of a man and a woman." No civil or political action can change the meaning of the term.

Ellen was never married to her partner. She may have gone through a ceremony and had the California Supreme Court say it was a marriage, but that does not change the fact that no relationship between two women (or two men, for that matter) can properly be understood to be a marriage. The whole "gay marriage" debate basically revolves around the desire of some to legitimize and justify what has always been generally understood to be deviant behavior.

Now, before you call me a hate filled bigot, (too late, you say? How hatefully bigoted of you!) consider this...

Those on one side of the issue claim to merely "want the same rights" that the other side has. In actuality, what they are demanding is that the structure and limits of that particular relationship which has always been understood to be called "marriage" be torn down so that the word really means nothing at all. After all, if marriage does not mean "one man, one woman, united," then what else can it mean? Why should the limits to the definition include only two consenting adult humans? Why must the line be drawn at two, or consenting, or adults, or even human? Why can a cowboy not marry his horse? Why a son not his mother? Why should there be any limits at all placed on what is legitimately recognized as marriage?

Yes, I know, it's the old "slippery slope" argument. But when you're standing at the top of a wet hill, shouldn't you call the slick incline by its real name?

Great interview (though I cringed at the "McCain=Maverick" meme...) Best part comes at the end.

I'm doing a pro-life speech. Four months ago, my fifth child was born with Down syndrome…so I value innocent life. It took many months for me to get my arms around the idea of, first, having a fifth child at my age, but also knowing that my child would have an extra chromosome. But I prayed the whole time, "God, just prepare me, prepare my heart and prepare my family." And talk about confirmation of that prayer, I mean, Trig is just—he is to me—absolutely perfect. And everybody's in love with him, and he's the sweetest little baby in the world.

Still not convinced to vote for McCain, but I could vote for Lapin.

Thousands of Aggies packed the Rudder Theater days before the Texas Primary. This picture was taken from across the room with my Olympus SP-55OUZ. I'm still trying to figure out all the buttons on the derned thing.

Toiletology
Timothy Frazier has a new toilet, and hasn't had any problems with it. He's probably got the newly re-engineered Champion 4 "Accelerator" valve (Manufacturer Propaganda Alert!). For my money, the best solution is a retrofit with the Titan valve... I get over two gallons a flush with mine. Look Ma, no residuals!

Lower Than Termites, But Deadlier

This 15 minute film is as important to view as the entire three days of coverage following the original 9-11 attacks. This film puts into context the nature of the enemy we face. Mitt Romney and John McCain have spent a combined total of over $124,000,000 in their quest for the the republican nomination. By contrast, Mike Huckabee has been having no small success while spending just over $7 million. Imagine what Huck could be doing if he had more than just rocks in his pockets! Won't you consider supporting Mike with a contribution today?

Ann Coulter lays out the case against John McCain.

John McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm, conservatism and youth. Like McCain, pollsters assured us that Dole was the most "electable" Republican. Unlike McCain, Dole didn't lie all the time while claiming to engage in Straight Talk.

I also agree with every word of what she says here, even when it comes to campaigning/voting for Hillary over McCain.

See, Hillary at least acknowledges that she is a democrat. Sadly, many in the republican party are sharing McCain's delusion that he somehow represents the conservative republican base. This mass hallucination is leading to the self-destruction of the republican party.

Slightly unrelated... this mystery bears some looking into.

Iowans say Guiliani worse choice than Ron Paul

Hey, all you northeast establishment republicrats trying to shove Guiliani down our red state throats, listen up: Iowans see him as a worse choice than Ron Paul!

- Thirty-four percent of likely caucusgoers see him as one of the worst choices for the Republican nomination. Paul ranks second in that category, at 26 percent.

- While 61 percent regard Giuliani favorably, 38 percent have unfavorable feelings toward him. Only Paul has a higher unfavorable mark in the poll, at 44 percent.

"He's too New York," Whittaker, the retired teacher, said of Giuliani. "He doesn't understand us. He doesn't care to understand us."
